GEAR UP Express students who participate in our Community Service and Congressional Award Programs, help prepare for the Alonzo Mourning "Zo's Summer Groove", one was of the first events was the Publix Sabor Appearance in Hialeah. Y-100, 103.5 the Beat Tyson foods and many other sponsors were present to support the event. As appreciation for their help students were able to have a VIP provate meet and greet with Alonzo Mourning.

GEAR UP Staff, Parents, University Community and GEAR UP EXPRESS students attended the Recognition Dinner to thank and recognize the hard work and effort of the mentors in this year's program.
With a donation from the Don Allen Foundation, two laptop computers were awarded to students with perfect attendance in the Mentoring Program.
Additionally five computers and printers purchased with grant monies were awarded to students who best exemplified the goals of GEAR UP EXPRESS.
